Catherine and Chris's story began in June 2022 with dinner at Sol Agave in Santa Monica. From the moment they sat down, conversation came easily, and neither was quite ready for the night to end. After dinner, they made their way to the beach, where they spent hours talking while sitting on a lifeguard tower, completely losing track of time. By the time they finally decided to leave, they discovered Catherine's car was locked inside a closed parking garage. Chris, completely unfazed, climbed his way in and saved the day. It made for a pretty unforgettable first date.

 

Not long after, their second date took them to Point Dume in Malibu for a picnic and dancing under the stars. They eventually found themselves sitting on another lifeguard tower, once again talking for hours and losing track of time. From the very beginning, they were inseparable—it was love at first sight. They loved laughing together, spending time with Chris's Golden Retriever, Chase, and Catherine's Goldendoodle, Willow, and finding any excuse for their next adventure.

And there have been plenty of adventures. From Julian and Big Sur to the Smoky Mountains, Europe, Colorado, and the Outer Banks, Catherine and Chris have loved exploring new places together. But their biggest adventure came just a year after they met, when they packed up their lives and moved across the country to a small town in North Carolina that Chris had only ever seen on a map. Catherine was starting medical school, and they knew they wanted to take on this next chapter together.

When it came time to propose, Chris brought their story full circle. He planned lunch at Sol Agave before taking Catherine back to Point Dume at sunset, where their second date had unfolded under the stars. There, near the lifeguard tower where they had once spent hours talking, Chris asked Catherine to marry him. Catherine was completely surprised, and in all the excitement, Chris forgot one small part of the plan—actually putting the ring on her finger. Instead, he handed it to her, which immediately had Catherine laughing before reminding him that he was supposed to put it on.

These days, Catherine and Chris can usually be found trying a new restaurant or coffee shop, hiking, traveling, skiing or snowboarding, or hanging out with Chase and Willow. As Catherine finishes medical school and applies to pediatric residency and Chris continues his work as Senior Product Manager at Aloha, they are excited to see where their next adventure takes them.

But first, they can't wait to get married and celebrate with all of their favorite people at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, in the place where so much of their story began.
